Palm trees, water chutes, fountains, pebble-beach AND full size swimming lanes..? Surely not in Qingdao, right? Although the East King Club is quite a ride out of the city, it's well worth the trip if you fancy spending a day at the oasis, especially with the kids. All in all, this place is unique: superb swimming facilities combined with a fitness centre full of top quality gear, and all under one roof. The club is located just off Haier Road beside the Football Stadium (ladies, the aerobics hall overlooks the Qingdao Football Team's training ground!, so you can watch the boys get ready for the premier league while toning yourselves up with yoga, boxing, ballet or whatever turns you on). Membership is available annually, quarterly or monthly and gets you full use of the swimming facilities.
