REDSTAR was founded in July 2003 with the initial aim of producing Qingdao's first English-language guide, launched 1st September 2003. We now publish 22 magazines per year, and this accounts for about 60% of our total business:

In addition we take on an increasing amount of graphic design (everything from a brochure or a custom map, to the development of a complete corporate visual identity).

Creating events has always been an important part of REDSTAR: from a monthly 'unplugged' night to the city's biggest Music and Art eXpo (MAX which takes place each March, MAX 09 will be the 3rd annual event). In April 2008 we launched Qingdao's first ever stand-up comedy club, bringing 'Punchline' from the UK. Due to the lack of suitable venues for such events we created our own: the REDSTAR space can seat 150 people and has stage, lights, projector and sound system.

A great grocery store with foreign items, lots of appliances and fashion (though typically overpriced), a fitness centre and one of Qingdao's best cinemas. Sometimes you can fit a few good things into a really, really big packages.

The HKG location serves an impressive array of western-style sandwiches and snacks and deserts. Be prepared to be patient. (The Taidong location specialises in coffee and cheesecake.

Beautiful design makes for a social atmosphere, helping this cafe stand out in a neighborhood quickly becoming overrun with coffee beans. But it's the variety of coffees that really makes this place shine.

Overcrowded with service staff who are likely to try to get more money than the products deserve. Make sure you ask for a fa piao (receipt).

A cute bakery with delicious breads, deli items and fine wines conveniently located at the corner of Minjiang Lu and Fuzhou Lu. Baeckermeister is also a full-service cafe, with excellent offerings for breakfast and lunch!

Great selection of tasty sandwiches. Amy's sandwiches are well appreciated by the foreign crowd, but the cheesecakes and sweets make it popular among the locals.
