What is it?
A classic card that REDSTAR readers use to receive discounts off food and beverages, products and services etc. It has no photo, no number, no expiry date and no "VIP" label.

REDSTAR was founded in July 2003 with the initial aim of producing Qingdao's first English-language guide, launched 1st September 2003. We now publish 22 magazines per year, and this accounts for about 60% of our total business:

Creating events has always been an important part of REDSTAR: from a monthly 'unplugged' night to the city's biggest Music and Art eXpo (MAX which takes place each March, MAX 09 will be the 3rd annual event). In April 2008 we launched Qingdao's first ever stand-up comedy club, bringing 'Punchline' from the UK. Due to the lack of suitable venues for such events we created our own: the REDSTAR space can seat 150 people and has stage, lights, projector and sound system.

A cute bakery with delicious breads, deli items and fine wines conveniently located at the corner of Minjiang Lu and Fuzhou Lu. Baeckermeister is also a full-service cafe, with excellent offerings for breakfast and lunch!

It takes about 40 minutes by car from Qingdao city to Qingdao International Airport. Domestic routes to 77 major domestic cities such as Beijing, Shanghai and Guangzhou are well established and there are direct routes to 13 international cities such as Tokyo, Osaka, Fukuoka, Seoul, Busan, Daegu and Hong Kong.

Connections to further afield locations such as Paris, Singapore, Bangkok, Frankfurt, Los Angeles and Macau have been opened.

Go up Song Ling Lu, past No. 2 Middle School, over the hill and far away, down the hill, past Qingdao Golf course and at the end of the golf course you will come to an area of greenhouses and poly tunnels. This is a must for all botanists and gardeners. There is a huge variety of potted plants and penjing, a vast selection of azaleas, and specialist orchid growers.

Go across from the bird and fish market, down a short, steep hill, past fish, bird and plant sellers and at the bottom of the hill on your right is another market. The ground floor has an excellent selection of fresh cut flowers, as well as silk and plastic varieties and other materials for flower arranging. Prices depend on flowers; statice for example ranges from 2 to 5 RMB per bunch.

This market sells books (wholesale), Mao memorabilia, coins, paper money, stamps and phone cards for collectors. The street outside the main entrance has art and

A great grocery store with foreign items, lots of appliances and fashion (though typically overpriced), a fitness centre and one of Qingdao's best cinemas. Sometimes you can fit a few good things into a really, really big packages.

Some of the finest Italian cuisine in town, this establishment has everything from filling lasagnas to salubrious salads, a fine bar upstairs and sublime gelato. To soak up the relaxing atmosphere, drop by at night for a cocktail or glass of fine wine -happy hour 5:30pm-7.30pm!

The actual vineyards are about 45 minutes drive outside of Qingdao towards Beijiu Shui in Laoshan. It is well worth the trip, especially on a sunny day. You can taste different Huadong wines and try the actual grapes they are made from.
